In a world of Dr's meticulously planning their time for an ideal work life balance we are lucky to have few who think otherwise.
Dr.Rao is a very simple man just like his prescription which is always for a day or two with fewer medicines.
Ever heard a Dr. visiting his clinic on Sunday? Well here is our Dr. who comes on SUN morning just to help some. His fee Rs.100/-
Dr.Ganesh near Kesavardini takes at least 3-5 mins for a patient asking every details, when was the last time you have visited such a Dr?(that too in Chennai)
His Fee Rs.100/-. This place is always crowded naturally it has to be :)
Dr.Eye Specialist near Kesavardini
The only Dr to check for color blindness best ophthalmologist around. His fee Rs.150/-
Saravana opticals: Very down to earth person and I got to pinch myself to believe such people do exist. If at all there should be a combination of Dr & helper well we have one!!
Dr.Siddiq near.soorya mahal
The usual process to consult a Dr is to take an appt pay 500/- only to leave unsatisfied and cursing him for wasting our time.
Well this Dr is easily accessible and it seems his motto is only to serve poor people. He is an ENT specialist and his fee Rs.75/- More importantly you still have your time to ask questions :)
All these Dr's do have friends making more money in the same locality/area but it seems these Dr's are happier than their friends bcos they don't think about making money they just love what they do :)
Another family Dr's who charge reasonably and converted their home into a nursing home.
Also An ortho and a homeopath.
Battery Service: My car was affected during floods and this person came to my rescue, in return I offered him money but he is reluctant to take it he told me whenever I need a battery I can buy from his shop. How frequently you will buy? He has helped many car owners for nothing in return.
He is opp to periyar park ( next to salon) , you can call him for door service :)
Fruit Vendors: Do I have to write about their plight of standing all day for meagre few hundreds or praying for new customers or think about fruits getting rotten.These peoples are so much affected since retail outlets selling most of the fruits for 1/2 price that of street vendors. Most of us feel that we are always fleeced by them to me what big in loosing 10-20rs to make someone happy! For those who blame the society here is a chance to do something for your own people that too for your own good!! To see real happiness just pay what they ask for :)
Print/Xerox:
There is small shop at the end of Radhakrishnan salai where a few students run this shop.They work on sundays too sometimes, in a time where youngsters are either hooked to FB or busy planning their future these guys seems to be more content with what they earn. Seldom I take printouts/xerox but would love to do more just to keep them going. What good are you if you don't encourage others to grow? At least we could do this again for your own good :)
Petty shop:
There is one small shop across megamart an old man sitting inside wearing mask all day to earn few hundreds. I wonder why not Govt give sops to them?
Britto Watches: A lady working in this watch/clock repair shop for more than a decade.
I was moved when the little one helping her mother after her school hours.
JK: Just a toy store run by humble people working all days for less margin.
There are atleast 2 kamatchi stores really nice people.
Also there are few nattu marundu kadai still going not sure for how long?
Shubham Electronics@Arcot Road: Disciplined people, must see them they show great dedication to work and I have never seen at least here @ch.
All these people make a living if only we are a part in their services.
Events:
Every year Radha marriage is the biggest event, free food for all for 3 days/nights in kalyani mandapam and its a celebration itself. I remember a decade back they served food in a corner of open area in Narayani apt. The good thing you can donate anything you wish it could be rice,dal, oil or watever :)
Catering:
Gnanambika catering is the best for any event and for Radha's marriage they are the cook.
In the begining they started selling sweets on festive days and other functions nowadays they are busy and they have their own place for functions.
Temples: There are many temples around, Perumal temple, Chinthamani vinayagar, Sastha and the best among all is the Anjeynar temple where the poojari does great job for all occasions.
Auto Drivers:
Few yrs back a Driver named Ravi took care of my son whenever we visited Dr.Varadarajan @vadapalani.It will take 8hrs we have to wait till that time Ravi will play with my son in his auto. Sadly he died few yrs back in an accident.
Another Driver named X now drops and picks my daughter for nominal fee.
There are some more people near kalyani mandapam lookout for a mallu & ceylonese nice people no bargain :)
All these years I always curse the bad drivers forgetting the good ones!!
Hotels:
Aaram: Nice ambience mouthwatering food esp Tiffin.
Ganesh Iyer: For meals this is the place hands down!! Its unlimited & quality food @reasonable price.They also sell sambar and other dishes.
Annapoorna: Old hotel but still surviving their "malli" (kushboo) idli is still famous. Gone are the days where they cook malabar dishes.
Hotel near Surya Mahal: This one is a bakery and a lady cooks good food @cheaper price.
2 Idli & Vada: This is near Friend's park in Sri Devi Kuppam Mn Rd., very cheap and tasty too..
Schools:
Daffodils: My daughter did her pre schooling in Daffodils, she enjoyed a lot so do we. Every year their cultural programs will bring out the best in the kids. So lovely to watch the little ones dancing, singing tirelessly.
La Chateline: Nice school with nominal fee and free lunch. They give utmost care to your kids and the response from the teachers is good.
